"They even texted me a video of the broken or malfunctioning area. That was great! Never had that anywhere. Not even at the dealership."

Dior, Range Rover A/C repair

5★ Google review · May 5, 2026

What you're watching

Dior's Range Rover Evoque came in with the A/C blowing warm before a 90° weekend. Favio first found a leak on a service valve and replaced the O-ring, then recharged the system. With pressure restored, the next test was switching the A/C on full blast — and the compressor clutch still wasn't engaging. That's the moment playing in the clip. We don't quote a part until the cause is confirmed, and each stage of that work gets evidence on the customer's phone.

Meet Moe, Favio, and Hisham — Family-Run on S El Camino Since 2020

"If we wouldn't do the repair on our own car, we won't quote it for yours." — Moe, Owner

Moe runs the front of house — your estimates, your texts, your questions about why we're recommending this and not that. Favio and Hisham run the bay — they're the ones under your car.

The reason every photo and video lands on your phone with a clear explanation? Because they're the ones taking them. No call center, no service writer reading from a script — just the people actually working on your car.

They built the inspection-and-quote workflow on purpose — photos to your phone, tap-to-approve, no service writer in between — so they don't have to do sales pressure, and you don't have to negotiate. The system describes the car. You decide what gets fixed. They do the work, charge what they quoted, and explain anything else only if you ask.

How San Mateo Auto Repair Works at Beacon

Up to six steps from booking to pick-up — every car gets the photo inspection; the video step kicks in only when a photo can't show the failure. You see what we see, and you decide what gets fixed.

1

Book Your Visit

Online in 60 seconds, or call us. Pick a day and a service — we'll text you a confirmation.

2

Drop Off

Drive in or use mobile check-in for after-hours drop-off. We'll text when we have the keys.

3

Digital Inspection

Multi-point inspection with photos of every finding — sent to your phone, not stuffed in a clipboard.

4

Video When a Photo Won't Do

When a photo can't show the failure — a clutch not engaging, a noise from a worn part, a leak under pressure — we text you a short video so you see it move, hear it, and know exactly what's wrong before you approve.

5

Approve What You Want

Tap the items you want done, decline the rest. No phone tag. No pressure. No upsell scripts.

6

Pay & Pick Up

Text-to-pay or in person — credit card, debit, cash. Status texts at each milestone (drop-off, inspection, estimate, repair, ready). Final receipt itemized line by line.

What We See on Our Monitors, You See on Your Phone

Short clip from the front desk during a recent visit. Left monitor: shop software with parts, labor, and the estimate-in-progress. Right monitor: the digital inspection report. When the estimate is ready, the same report gets texted to you — so you're never guessing what we're doing or what it'll cost.

Real shop footage — what's on the monitors is what lands on your phone.

Common Questions Before You Book

Where is Beacon Auto Care located in San Mateo?

2300 S El Camino Real, San Mateo, CA 94403 — between 23rd and 25th Avenue on the west side of El Camino, easy in-and-out off the 101. Free parking on-site.

Full directions and parking info

What are your hours? Are you open on weekends?

Monday through Saturday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Closed Sundays. After-hours drop-off available — we text you a mobile check-in link the night before so you can leave the keys and log mileage before we open.

Do I need an appointment, or can I just drop by?

Either works. is the fastest way — pick a day and we set aside a bay for you. Walk-ins are welcome and we fit you in around scheduled jobs (wait time depends on the day, so call ahead if you can).

What types of cars do you work on?

BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Porsche, Volvo, VW (our specialty) — plus Toyota, Honda, Ford, and most domestic and hybrid makes. If your car is something unusual or vintage, call us — we'll tell you straight up if we can do the work or recommend who can.

Do you do tires?

Yes — mounting, balancing, rotation, and tire sales. We don't do wheel alignment though (no rack); if you need that done at the same time, we'll point you to a nearby shop that does. What we do and don't handle.

Can Moe come to me? Do you do mobile mechanic jobs?

Sometimes, yes. If your car can't make it to the shop, give us a call — Moe runs mobile jobs for customers when the situation calls for it. Not every repair works mobile (we're not bringing a lift to your driveway), but more do than you'd expect. Call to ask.

Do you give a written estimate before starting any work?

Yes — every car gets a multi-point digital vehicle inspection (DVI) with photos sent to your phone, plus an itemized estimate you tap-to-approve. We don't touch a bolt without your sign-off. The bill matches the estimate. How the process works.

Why don't you push extra services on me when I come in?

Because we picked the systems specifically so we don't have to. The inspection report goes to your phone with photos and a line-item price for each finding. You tap what you want done. We do that, charge what we quoted, and that's it. No commission, no upsell scripts, no "while you're here let's also look at..." pressure. If you want to know why something matters, we'll explain. If you don't, we don't push it. The four things we actually do.

How long will my car be at the shop?

Most repairs are same-day — oil changes, brake pads, AC recharges, basic diagnostics. Heavier work (engine internals, transmission, head gaskets) usually 1–3 days, sometimes longer if a part has to ship. We text status updates at the milestones (drop-off confirmed, inspection complete with quote, repair started, ready for pickup) so you're never guessing where things stand. Goal for most jobs: drop off in the morning, pick up the same afternoon.

Do you offer a warranty on parts and labor?

24 months / 24,000 miles on both parts AND labor (whichever comes first), for: brake pad/rotor replacement and caliper service, brake fluid flush, AC recharge / leak repair / compressor replacement, suspension work (struts, shocks, control arms, tie rods, ball joints), scheduled maintenance (oil, fluids, filters, tune-ups), engine repairs (mounts, gasket jobs, belt + water pump service), and electrical work where we replaced a component.

Not covered: tires (manufacturer's tire warranty applies), wear items (wipers, bulbs, fuses), customer-supplied parts, normal-wear-out beyond the part-maker's stated life, work where you declined our recommended repair, and damage from external causes (collision, neglect, off-road use).

The full terms are printed on every invoice — keep your invoice. If a part we installed fails inside the window, bring the car back; we cover replacement at no charge.

Drop It Off in the Morning. Drive It Home in the Afternoon.

Same-day on most repairs. Photos and an itemized estimate texted to your phone — tap what you want done, decline the rest, the bill matches what you approved. 24-month / 24,000-mile warranty on parts and labor.
